The Master of Science specialising in Human Resource Management covers the full spectrum of modern human resource management, which, as an integral part of corporate strategy, makes a significant contribution to a company’s value creation. The programme is not merely about imparting in-depth specialist knowledge in the core areas of people management, recruitment, human resources development, HR controlling and employment law. A dynamic and innovation-oriented approach is of paramount importance for successfully tackling the challenges of globalisation, digitalisation, skills shortages and the need for sustainability. That is why the programme’s structure – with its corresponding module topics, forms of teaching and learning – is equally focused on your interdisciplinary and personal development. A consistent focus on practical application in the modules, as well as project-based learning in collaboration with a network of rotating practice partners, underpins this comprehensive approach.

Are a practically-oriented approach and an international focus important to you – ideally combined with an internship abroad? Then this master’s programme is just right for you!
The MSc in Business Administration, specialising in Human Resource Management, qualifies graduates to embark on their careers as specialists and future managers in all areas of human resource management, ensuring they are adequately prepared to work in an international context. Particular emphasis is placed on the comprehensive development of interdisciplinary, social and personal skills.
The first semester focuses on the theoretical and methodological foundations and key areas of human resource management, such as talent management, change management and staff recruitment. The second semester centres on a research project on HR controlling, international and intercultural aspects, and finance. It also covers cross-cutting topics such as innovation, knowledge management and digitalisation. The third semester is devoted to strategic human resource management and current HR issues; you will also write your Master’s thesis.

Programme structure (for students starting from winter term 2026)
An internship abroad lasting several months with an international company, or an additional semester at an accredited foreign university, are optional. You will also be prepared for working abroad through intercultural training and studies on the establishment of German companies overseas.
The stay abroad can take place after the second semester of study. As there are usually more applications than places available abroad, master’s degree students must go through a selection procedure. A place cannot be guaranteed.

Our admission requirements are:
- a bachelor's degree in Business Administration (or an equivalent subject) comprising at least six theoretical semesters and at least 180 credit points (ECTS), completed with an overall examination mark of 2.59 or better.
- If only 180 ECTS have been obtained, the missing 30 credit points must be successfully completed or evidence of them provided within 12 months of commencing the master’s programme.
- New from 2026: Proof of at least 10 credit points (ECTS) from modules in economics and/or mathematics from the above-mentioned degree programme.
- For foreign bachelor’s degree certificates: VPD (preliminary examination), issued for Hochschule München. Please apply for this via uni-assist by the end of March.
- For bachelor's degrees obtained outside the EU: proof of a GMAT (no minimum score).
- International applicants who did not obtain their university entrance qualification at a German-speaking educational institution must provide evidence of German language proficiency at level B2 (CEFR) before commencing their studies – see ‘Proof of German language proficiency’. This does not apply to applicants for the Digital Technology Management specialisation.
- To assess suitability for the specific degree programme, an admissions interview is held (usually at the end of June or in July). Candidates must pass this interview.
- In addition, applicants should already have English language skills at level B2 (CEFR) at the time of application (no proof required).
Applications for the following winter semester can be submitted from 2 to 31 May and must, without exception, be made online via our application portal.

The date and details of the next admissions interview will be announced in early 2027.
If your application meets all the admission requirements, you will receive an invitation by email, containing further details, no later than one to two weeks before the date of the interview. Please keep the whole day or days free until then.
If you have ‘passed’ the admissions interview, you will receive your admission letter via Primuss approximately 1–2 weeks later.
If your application does not meet our admission requirements, you will not be invited to an interview. The official rejection letter will only be sent once the interviews have been completed in July (via Primuss).
All students are required to pay a Student Union fee .
In addition, from winter semester 2026/27, tuition fees of €700 per semester will apply to students from non-EU countries (see Fees FAQ ).
