Erasmus+
This programme, launched by the European Union, aims to promote student mobility within Europe. It makes it easier for students to spend a semester abroad, not only through financial support, the waiver of tuition fees and the removal of bureaucratic barriers, but above all by significantly simplifying the application procedures and the process for recognising credits earned abroad, as well as by providing support throughout the process.

BACHELOR
Ideally, bachelor's students should spend one semester abroad during their 5th semester.
However, it is also possible to do so at a later stage.
Upon agreement and availability, spending and funding two semesters abroad can also be arranged.
Recognising credits earned abroad prevents the unnecessary extension of studies due to an exchange semester.
Selection Criteria:
- at least 55 ECTS credits at the time of application
- 90 ECTS from the 1st to the 4th semester (to be provided on enrolment)
- A pass in the 2nd or 3rd semester English exam
- where applicable, evidence of other language skills (see information on partner universities)
- Mentoring of international students as part of the ‘Buddy Service’ programme (ideally, mentoring takes place in the 3rd semester; registration for the Buddy Programme takes place in the 2nd semester)
- Attending the ERASMUS+ kick-off event

| Step 2 - Information session (always one year in advance!) | Applications are usually submitted in the third semester. | Step 3 - Written application | After the info session, please log in to the online portal and enter your three priorities. A copy of the signed Annex A must be submitted to the International Relations department by email. | Step 4 - Acceptance of the offer | The results of the allocation will be announced approximately two weeks after the application deadline. You can view your allocated place on the Erasmus+ online portal. Depending on the number of applicants, you can usually be offered a place at one of your three preferred universities | 3rd semester |
| Step 5 - Application to the partner university | Once you have successfully submitted an application for an ERASMUS+ place at HMBS, you will still need to submit an application directly to the partner university. However, we will ask you to do this! | 4th semester |
The Erasmus+ grant is financial support for your Erasmus+ stay, funded by the EU.
It is not necessary to repay the Erasmus+ grant, as long as all the conditions and requirements of the program are fulfilled.
Under the Erasmus+ program, you will be exempt from paying any tuition fees at the partner institution.

Re-registration:
You must also re-register with HM for the semester abroad and ensure that you pay the Students' Union fee on time.
It is not possible to be exempted from these fees due to studying abroad for a semester.
MASTER
Master’s students usually begin their semester abroad in the third semester, or in the fourth semester if their master's degree programme is extended.
Prerequisites:
- Start in the 3rd semester
- Proof of English language proficiency from your Bachelor’s degree (e.g. completion of a ‘Business English’ module, an English language certificate, evidence of a language study or study abroad placement, or English as your first language)
- where applicable, evidence of other language skills (see information on partner universities)
- Support for international students prior to arrival (Buddy Service)
- Attendance at the info session for outgoing students at the start of each semester (one year in advance)
- Agreement to write a freely worded testimonial on your experiences (5–7 pages) following your stay abroad
