Are you looking for a master's degree in Finance in Munich? Then our Finance programme (M.Sc. in Business Administration – Finance & Accounting) is just right for you!
The MSc in Business Administration, specialising in Finance & Accounting, equips graduates to embark on their careers as specialists and future managers who possess particular strengths in the areas of corporate finance, risk management, asset management, accounting, management accounting and taxation.
The first semester of our master's degree programme in Business Administration – Finance & Accounting covers the fundamentals of external financial reporting, corporate taxation and asset management, whilst also focusing on research methods and data science. In the second semester, alongside internal accounting, the curriculum covers more specialised topics of great relevance to businesses – financial derivatives, risk management and transfer pricing are among the key areas. The third semester is devoted to writing the Master’s thesis, as well as undertaking a subject-specific project study and a research project.
The course content is supplemented by guest lectures and field trips to partner organisations.

Programme structure (for students starting from winter term 2026)
An internship abroad lasting several months with an international company, or an additional semester at an accredited foreign university, are optional. You will also be prepared for working abroad through intercultural training and studies on the establishment of German companies overseas.
The stay abroad can take place after the second semester of study. As there are usually more applications than places available abroad, master’s degree students must go through a selection procedure. A place cannot be guaranteed.

Like all our master’s programmes, the MSc in Business Administration, specialising in Finance & Accounting, opens up excellent career prospects for you. It provides you with a wide range of career options in the finance sector and in financial management. Typical entry-level roles include investment and corporate banking, mergers and acquisitions, asset management, management accounting, data analysis, consultancy and auditing within business and tax consultancy firms, or management consultancy.

Our admission requirements are:
- a bachelor's degree in Business Administration (or an equivalent subject) comprising at least six theoretical semesters and at least 180 credit points (ECTS), completed with an overall examination mark of 2.59 or better.
- If only 180 ECTS have been obtained, the missing 30 credit points must be successfully completed or evidence of them provided within 12 months of commencing the master’s programme.
- New from 2026: Proof of at least 10 credit points (ECTS) from modules in economics and/or mathematics from the above-mentioned degree programme.
- For foreign bachelor’s degree certificates: VPD (preliminary examination), issued for Hochschule München. Please apply for this via uni-assist by the end of March.
- For bachelor's degrees obtained outside the EU: proof of a GMAT (no minimum score).
- International applicants who did not obtain their university entrance qualification at a German-speaking educational institution must provide evidence of German language proficiency at level B2 (CEFR) before commencing their studies – see ‘Proof of German language proficiency’. This does not apply to applicants for the Digital Technology Management specialisation.
- To assess suitability for the specific degree programme, an admissions interview is held (usually at the end of June or in July). Candidates must pass this interview.
- In addition, applicants should already have English language skills at level B2 (CEFR) at the time of application (no proof required).
Applications for the following winter semester can be submitted from 2 to 31 May and must, without exception, be made online via our application portal.

The admissions interview for the master's degree in Business Administration, specialising in Finance & Accounting, took place in person on Friday 10 July 2026 at HM Business School (Pasing campus).
Information 2026 (in German)
The date and details of the next admissions interview will be announced in early 2027.
If your application meets all the admission requirements, you will receive an invitation by email, containing further details, no later than one to two weeks before the date of the interview. Please keep the whole day or days free until then.
If you have ‘passed’ the admissions interview, you will receive your admission letter via Primuss approximately 1–2 weeks later.
If your application does not meet our admission requirements, you will not be invited to an interview. The official rejection letter will only be sent once the interviews have been completed in July (via Primuss).
All students are required to pay a Student Union fee .
In addition, from winter semester 2026/27, tuition fees of €700 per semester will apply to students from non-EU countries (see Fees FAQ ).
