Recognition/Academic credit transfer for external achievements
You should apply to the relevant examination board for the recognition of external achievements and the academic credit transfer of acquired skills. For recognition relating to a semester abroad, please contact the International Relations team first.
The processing time for recognition/academic credit transfer is approximately 8 weeks from the date of submission of the application. Please therefore note that the application should be submitted within the first 4 weeks of the semester.
First of all, familiarise yourself thoroughly with the course timetable and the module descriptions so that you can decide which modules to apply for. Check whether there is a significant overlap in terms of content and the skills to be acquired between the credits you have already earned and the modules to be recognised.
Recognition of compulsory elective modules in general sciences (AW modules) must be applied for separately to the examination board of Department 13.
Practical experience may be considered for academic credit transfer if it has led to an in-depth understanding of a specific subject and this can be demonstrated convincingly. You should therefore first familiarise yourself thoroughly with the course timetable so that you can assess which skills may be considered for academic credit transfer. Please note that academic credit transfer for achievements or activities undertaken during vocational training is not possible, as it is assumed that the relevant skills were not acquired to the required extent or depth.
The following documents are required for recognition/academic credit transfer:
- 1. The completed and signed application for recognition/academic credit transfer
- 2. Documents that substantiate the content of the skills listed in your application (module descriptions, explanations of how the skills were acquired). Please submit only relevant supporting documents; in particular, do not submit complete module handbooks. For documents in languages other than English, you will need a certified translation.
- 3. Evidence of your qualifications (certificates, transcripts, etc.). If any documents are in a foreign language (other than English), you will need a certified translation.
- 4. Finally, upload all the documents to PRIMUSS.
If you have any other enquiries, please contact the examination board by email at pk-bachelor-hmbs@hm.edu
In order for the compulsory work placement in the 4th semester to receive academic credit transfer, you must have completed three years of full-time employment following the completion of a commercial apprenticeship. If you meet these requirements, please contact the work placement coordinator,
Prof. Dr. Jens Kleine
